J Bar. speaker, sand, amplifier, produced reggae track, wooden structure. 2018.

Inspired by the shape of the iconic ‘J’ of the typography of the Jamaica Tourist Board’s campaigns this work is an interactive sculpture which also serves as a fully functioning bar. A built in speaker filled with beach sand plays a looped reggae track engineered by the artist with local Jamaican producers. People are invited to don a specially designed J Bar staff shirt and assume the role of bartender.
